On Friday, May 20, the VOTOB Benefit statement Datamining workshop was held in private.

VOTOB Benefit statement Datamining is a project (with a workshop) with VOTOB as client, 4 terminals / VOTOB members (partners), the SDN as facilitator and TU Delft and TNO as contractors. There is no opportunity to register for this workshop, but through our website we will keep you informed about the progress and intended results of this project.

What does the VOTOB Benefit Statement Datamining project entail?

There is a lot of knowledge 'in house' at the terminals about where the risks are. There is also more and more data
available in the systems at a terminal, for example operational data, maintenance data, the execution of the VBS
operational data, maintenance data, the implementation of the VBS and the SMT. There are an increasing number of
tools are increasingly available to go from "data to control information". One
example is predictive maintenance.

The VOTOB and SDN are jointly conducting a research project with the question:
"Can data mining help to improve safety at terminals"?

The project is implemented in two steps:
1. Draw up a benefit statement: find out what (kind of) data is available at terminals, what data can/may be (safely) shared, and what data mining can do.
available at terminals, which data can/may be (safely) shared, and what data mining can
contribute to increasing terminal safety. The themes COI and Asset
Management will be used as examples.
This step has already been completed.

2. Further elaboration: data mining has added value as a result of step 1 to improve
value for the improvement of safety. In this step, we take an executive approach by means of a
of a workshop.

The participants (members of the VOTOB) will gain insight into the
possibilities of data mining to improve the safety at terminals. The benefit
statement is made in consultation with a number of suppliers of Terminal
Management Systems or CMMS with the aim of: identifying ways of using data more
for the preventive management of safety policies.

Results
The expected results (deliverables) of this project are:
1. (SDN Innovation Centre) A benefit statement containing the possible contribution of
data mining to improve safety at terminals:
a. Types of data that are relevant and available and that terminals might want to share (within the sector).
(within the sector) would like to share.
b. An overview of types of technology to share data.
c. Possible results that companies can work with.
d. Conditions for secure data sharing.

(SDN Knowledge Centre) An evaluation of the added value of data mining in relation to COI and
related to COI and Asset Management, in particular the confidential sharing of
knowledge about:
a. The level of COI control and its impact on the condition of their assets in
compared to standards and to others.
b. The maturity of the asset management organisations to deal with any corrosion
corrosion under insulation related safety issues.
