Summary
An incident involving an uncontrolled release of a large amount of hazardous substance(s) or energy is called a Process Safety Event (PSE). The European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) has developed a method to easily classify a PSE. Investigating (near) PSEs tells a lot about the true state of a company's safety management system and helps to further improve corporate safety and efficiency.
