Summary
Research shows that inspection by robots is more accurate, productive and cost-effective. Environmental safety is enhanced, by preventing the release of harmful substances with environmental impact, because robots:
- be able to inspect more effectively and efficiently and make a faster and more accurate prediction of imperfections of petrochemical plant components; and
- safely inspect confined spaces.
ExRobotics developed a new and improved version of its ATEX-certified inspection robot with a grant from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and help from Shell Pernis and DOW Terneuzen. Like an operator, the robot can perform inspection rounds independently, extract relevant information from all kinds of collected data, and notify the control room in case of deviations.
