Abstract
The ATEX 153 directive (formerly ATEX 137) describes the safety requirements that employers or owners of ATEX installations must implement to ensure that employees can work safely and healthily in environments where there is a risk of explosion. The directive is applied to the environment, the procedures and the instructions for employees and is included in the Health and Safety Act. People who are mainly involved with ATEX 153 are part of the primary process of the company such as: operators of installations and machines, installers, maintenance engineers and logistics staff.
