Safety Delta Netherlands - Theme 1:
Risk | Control | Assurance
Find, connect, renew in safety
Determining safety risks, measures to mitigate them, and ways to assess that these measures are working are strong determinants of safety performance. Expectations are:
- Managers set up work processes to identify safety risks and reduce these risks to ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable) and keep these work processes up to date.
- For the highest safety risks, scenarios for the 'worst credible case' were drawn up and assessed for their impact on humans and the environment.
- Where reasonably practicable, safety risks are eliminated or reduced.
- Managers make plans and preparations for emergency situations that limit the consequences and enable business operations to be resumed.
- Managers provide assurance to stakeholders that measures have been taken to mitigate safety risks, that these measures are appropriate and effective, and that this is an accurate reflection of reality.
- Following up on audit results, managers keep track of the determination and full implementation of improvement activities needed to strengthen safety measures.
