Handreiking | Dsear risk assessment guidance for compressed gases

Dangerous substances can put peoples’ safety at risk from fire, explosion and corrosion of metal. The Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR) [4] are concerned with protection against these hazards and similar events arising from dangerous substances and potentially explosive atmospheres. All gases under pressure, regardless of their properties, are classified as dangerous substances and are in scope of DSEAR [4]. Gases that are under pressure (for example, gas in a cylinder) may present a risk of explosion if not correctly handled in the workplace. Substances that can corrode metals could cause structural damage reducing integrity of structures if not suitably contained.
