Learning from workplace accidents with RIVM Storybuilder

The RIVM National Institute for Public Health and the Environment National Institute for Public Health and the Environment has a unique database - Storybuilder - with information that makes it possible to learn from accidents. Information on approximately 31,000 serious accidents in the period 1998 to 2014. What happened, where did it go wrong and what were the underlying causes?

This can help in designing inspections and implementing improvements to prevent occupational accidents. It is possible to download the Storybuilder application. The software is quite complex. RIVM works together with sector organisations and health and safety professionals to develop instruments to use this data in practice in an accessible way.
