Companies in the industry face government supervision from the Environmental Services and the Labor Inspectorate. This supervision is vertical and consists mainly of retrospective checks. With horizontal supervision or co-creation, supervision comes to the front and the emphasis is on looking ahead together and anticipating. This leads to greater effectiveness and cost savings. In the surface treatment industry, Safety Delta Netherlands, Stichting Innovat.ION and Stantec set up the Safety Deal project Professional Internal Supervision (PIT) last year to experiment with this other form of supervision.
