Purpose

  1. Gathering and disseminating knowledge about applications of process safety management among SMEs.
  2. Deeper insight into the safety status of SMEs. This offers the possibility of a need-driven control of multi-year improvement programmes for the industrial segment.

Expected result

The project has expected outcomes:

  • A standardised methodology for carrying out Peer Reviews at VNCI-SME companies and for sharing results with stakeholders. This will be done on the basis of a pilot with six companies to be carried out in the summer/autumn of 2021.

  • A basis for the network of Process Safety Experts among the (participating) SME companies.

  • A basis for the network of Peer Reviewers to carry out a Process Safety Peer Review in SMEs.

  • An organisational and financially sound plan for the continuation of Process Safety Peer Reviews, which can also be applied to other sector organisations.

Outcome

Peer reviews have been conducted. The content of the peer review was determined in consultation with the participating company. In addition, an SDN QuickScan led to a peer review to explore a specific topic in greater depth.

(Anonymised) findings were shared within the VNCI policy group on SMEs.
