NIPV - AAVs safety risks on chemical clusters - report phase 1

[SDN Projects Completed Project: Safety Risks of Alternative Powered Vehicles at Chemical Clusters - phase 1 - Safety Delta Netherlands (SDN) ]

Many (petrochemical) companies are located on industrial estates and chemical clusters. A lot of transport (of hazardous substances) takes place on these sites. Now that the transport sector is becoming greener, this means that alternative fuels are increasingly being used.

The current BRZO legislation and regulations say nothing about the (permitted) drive of trucks on such industrial sites. A study is being carried out to gain insight into the (additional) safety risks on petrochemical sites of alternatively driven trucks and to formulate recommendations to arrive at proportionate safety measures with regard to road transport of goods (tanks and general cargo) on industrial sites.

Phase 1, an exploratory study, maps out the number of alternatively powered trucks for the period 2008 to 2021, gives the result of a literature study on existing regulations, and provides examples of existing procedures at chemical sites.
